Once you land in Srinagar, you’ll be escorted to your luxurious hotel room with a majestic view of the Himalayas. You can spend the afternoon drifting through the pristine Dal lake on a Shikara ride. Watch the Himalayas reflect off the still water as the sun goes down. In the evening, stroll through the old city lanes near Lal Chowk and try a warm plate of Rogan Josh or Dum Aloo at a magnificent Wazwan cuisine restaurant.
The tour begins with the Mughal Gardens — Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi. Visit the iconic Jama Masjid in the old city, a stunning wooden mosque that's been standing since the 14th century. Spend your afternoon at the busy Maharaja Bazaar browsing authentic Pashmina shawls, saffron, dry fruits, and hand-carved walnut woodwork.
Drive two and a half hours to Pahalgam, sitting pretty at 7,200 feet along the banks of the Lidder River. It's lush, green, and wonderfully unhurried. Visit Betaab Valley — named after the Bollywood film shot here — and Aru Valley, a pristine meadow surrounded by pine forests and snow peaks. Take a pony ride or simply walk the riverside trails. In the evening, settle into your hotel with the sound of the river outside your window. Pahalgam feels like the world has been turned down to a gentle volume
Head to Gulmarg — meaning "Meadow of Flowers" — a high-altitude resort town at 8,700 feet and one of Asia's top ski destinations. Take the Gondola cable car up to Kongdori and, if daring, all the way to Apharwat Peak at 13,400 feet for jaw-dropping views of the Himalayas and Nanga Parbat. In winter, the slopes are perfect for skiing and snowboarding. In summer, the green meadows are ideal for horse riding and peaceful walks.
