Overview
This is the most popular and productive zone in the park for tiger sightings. Dense forests, open grasslands and a good network of safari tracks make every drive feel like an adventure.
Sitting on top of a rocky hill right inside the park, this ancient fort offers sweeping views of the forest. The route up passes through caves with old inscriptions and a giant reclining Vishnu statue carved out of rock.
A quieter zone compared to Tala, Magadhi is great for spotting deer, wild boar and the occasional tiger. The landscape here is more open and very photogenic during the golden hour.
Good for those who enjoy a more relaxed safari. You can often spot gaur, jackals and a range of birds without the crowds that Tala sometimes sees.

START PLANNINGOctober to June is when the park is open. The best time for tiger sightings is between February and May when the vegetation thins out and animals come to water sources more often. October and November are also very good months with cooler weather and freshly opened forest trails after the monsoon.
Jeep safaris are the most popular way to explore the park and are available in both morning and evening slots. Canter safaris, which are open vehicles carrying a larger group, are a more budget friendly option for the buffer zones. For the best experience, a private jeep safari with a good naturalist guide is the way to go.
The nearest airport is at Jabalpur, roughly 160 kilometres away. Umaria is the closest railway station, just about 35 kilometres from the park gates.
