Your Rann of Kutch journey begins in Bhuj, the cultural capital of Kutch. You’ll arrive here after a drive from the Ahmedabad Airport. Once you’re checked into your luxurious hotel, you can rest for the remainder of the day or choose to explore the town in late afternoon. Begin at the Aina Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), an 18th-century marvel housing a dazzling collection of royal artefacts. Explore local markets to explore exquisite Kutchi handicrafts.
For the highlight of the trip, drive to Dhordo village. This is the base of the Rann Utsav tent city, a beautifully set up camp. As the sun sets, the Rann Utsav comes alive with folk performances, camel rides, traditional music, and artisan stalls selling the finest handicrafts of Kutch.
For a historical immersion, drive to Dholavira on Khadir island, one of the five largest cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation, dating back over 5,000 years. The site is remarkably well preserved, with massive stone fortifications & some of the oldest inscriptions. After lunch, you’ll be escorted back to the Ahmedabad airport for your homeward flight.
